The world is justly excited by this region around Florence and the fortified towns that carved out for themselves such a place in Western civilisation during the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries. The Sangiovese is the principal grape for red and rose, together with increasing plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.  While whites involve Malvasia, Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.  The olive oil is superb, the grappa delicate yet powerful.  We have the wines of the distinguished eight hundred year landholding of Count Guicciardini at Castello di Poppiano, the refined Galardi family’s organic produce from Poggiopiano and some fine smooth reds from Parri at Montespertoli, founded upon Roman cellars.


Not Tuscany, not Sicily, but definitely more Southern than Northern, is the region of Puglia on the Adriatic Coast about two thirds down Italy’s booted leg.  Cool breezes from the Adriatic that once brought Classical Greeks to found Oenotria, the land of wine, now cool the fruit that bake upon trellises in the hot autumn sun.  The style of the wines is half new world, half old, flavours intense and very ripe but refined, and labels sensuous in their homage to an ancient land.

Varietal :- Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo

Taste: – A pleasantly coloured rose which goes well with BBQs, cold cuts of meat, ham and salami and curry. It has taste of red fruits and rose petals and  it is mercifully dry. Obtained from fermentation at controlled temperature of musts of Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo after a very limited maceration (24-48 hours). An easy drinking pleasant fresh wine.

Taste: – Recognisably a Shiraz but dressed in noble Tuscan robes, a fine and interesting wine. Syrah thrives in the Alberese soils of Castello di Poppiano. It is the ideal environment to highlight its well known qualities, and is the backbone of this wine. A bit of Sangiovese adds smoothness and finesse. Those who appreciate Syrah will not the elegance of breeding in its dark cherry and pepper notes with the Morello cherry flavour of Sangiovese. Colour: purple, intense, bright.
